When the weight starts creeping back on~the rabbit hole of life.

Revelation 2:5 (NKJV)
"Remember therefore from where you have fallen;
repent and do the first works,
or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand
from its place—unless you repent."
Ugh! You know what I'm talking about. You do the work. The weight comes off. You feel better about yourself. Then one morning, you weigh yourself and you're up just a little bit. You tell yourself, "That's from eating out, must be the sodium (salt) in the food. It will be gone by tomorrow." Then, the next morning you are down, but not all the way. This continues for a few weeks. Before you realize you're up five pounds, you're up seven pounds, you're up eight pounds. You asked yourself, "What am I doing?" You already know you are not being as diligent as you once were with eating enough, drinking enough water, getting enough protein, maybe even some less than desirable choices were made because you were busy? And...the weight started creeping back on.
Picture
Weight starts coming back on when we quit doing the things we did to loose the weight in the first place, not adding to what it took to loose the weight. Let me explain. I am working out more, not less. I am probably eating less not more. What I did before was I ate every two to three hours. I was constantly drinking water. What happened? I kept getting busier. I felt great due to the weight lost. Because I got relief from the weight loss, I started exercising more, working more, sleeping less, and the weight started creeping back on. I had failed to do what I had learned to do. I had to go back to doing my first works.
Picture
I share this because as a person and as a pastor for the last twenty plus years I have watched people get right with God and then fall away. They still love God but the weight of the world, the weight of sin started piling on them again. Finally, after a few weeks, or a few months the ground they gained was lost. Their first love had grown cold. They had forgotten to do what it took to get them back on fire for Jesus. They say things like, "Well, school started, soccer started, we went on vacation, we got a boat, we opened our campsite...." I think you see where I am going with all this?

Whatever it took to get you close to God, close to your goal weight, it will take you to keep you there. The disciplines of getting enough word (water and food), enough sleep (quiet time with God and prayer) will all still be needed to keep the weight from coming back on (falling away from God). We can get back if we just go back to doing our first works. (Rev.2:5)

Picture
Life is a process. We are going to grow one way or another. We can grow bigger or we can grow stronger, smarter, healthier, closer to God, or further away from God. The choices we make daily, make us. What we choose today--we become tomorrow.

What choices are you making today? Are they going to drawl you closer to the goals you have set for yourself? The call of God on your life? What direction are you headed? Whose voice are you heeding? One voice is calling you toward the mark of the high calling in Christ, while the other is sucking you down a rabbit hole that holds no reward in this life or the next.
Picture
Action step: Take a good look at where you are. Take a good look at how far you have come....and perhaps how far you have fallen. What do you see? Are you where you want to be? Are you still making progress or have you slid backwards a little at a time ever so slightly? You think no one notices...but you do. God does. What are you going to do differently today? The choice is yours. The rabbit hole or total peace and victory with yourself and with God? Life is a process. Vow to go in the right direction both physically and spiritually.

When things get messy with God.

Isaiah 55:10 NKJV
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,"
Picture
We often complain about the very thing that can change our situation. We complain about what can change others, ourselves, and the problem. Why? Because we dislike process. Let's take rain for example. We look out and it's raining. We think, "Ahhh, I got to go get in the car in the rain. The drive to work is going to be bad." "I can't mow today." "Well, there goes my golf game, my run, my picnic, you fill in the blank ________________." The rain ruins our day.

Now, when the rain comes down, it's truly a blessing. We receive much needed water for our plants, our food, the earth to survive and produce oxygen for us to breathe, water in which to bath and drink, and the list goes on. There is a process. Most of us don't like process.
Picture
Our challenge is to look to God in the process. Most women don't like the nine months of waiting for a child. They don't like the process, but love the product. Most people don't care much for the schooling to become a doctor, or dentist, or nurse, or teacher, but they love their profession once attained. When we are in the process we need to look for rainbows and when it's dark look for stars. Look to God's word for encouragement.
Picture
Embrace process. I'm Italian. I love to eat. I love to cook. Recently, I made two large trays of lasagna. I didn't like the process of shopping and spending fifty dollars. I didn't like that it took me hours to make and cook the sauce, and then prepare all the other ingredients. Grating cheese takes more time than I care to admit, but it taste so much better than pre-grated. I didn't like how long it took to assemble all the ingredients, but I loved eating it! I loved sharing it with friends and family. Allow me to encourage you when your going through process, just like a rainy day, put on a pair of cute boots and jump into the puddles!
Picture
Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Picture
ACTION STEP: Embrace the process. Whether God is working on you, or you are working through a chore, a job, a marriage, schooling, whatever it is just keep forging ahead. The process will end. The lasagna will be finished. You will have that baby. You will be qualified for that job. You will get that diploma. The rain will stop. The sun will come out again. You will be better having been processed. No one wants to eat a half-baked cake. Allow God to finish what He started. After all, Father knows best. When things get messy, look for the message.

Allow me the privilege of helping you through the process. ht
tp://restorationchurchintl.org/women-of-witness .     I want to meet you personally and help you become all God has called you to be. Get a few friends together and put on your boots and jump in. Jummonsville, PA is close to WV, MD, PA and even Ohio. So no matter where you live it won't be far. I look forward to seeing you September 12-14, 2019. Over at noon on Saturday. All meals and lodging included.

Staying lit in winds of adversity-Catch the Wind and burn!

8/27/2019

While sitting on the porch last night I lit several citronella candles. I claim the bugs have been biting me a lot lately due to my decrease in garlic consumption. I haven't been eating nearly the amount of bread I use to eat, so less garlic. Or, maybe I'm just sweeter in my old age. (lol)

Regardless of the reason, candles were lit and there was a constant breeze bending the flame. Often times it would flicker. The flame looked as though it was about to go out, then it would stand up straight, and flicker with a new found strength and tenacity. I feel like that flame at times. Don't you? I mean be honest. Do you ever feel your light is about to go out? Strong winds of adversity blow and we feel it. But God! God will not snuff us out. Isaiah 42:3 NIV "
A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;"
Proverbs 20:27 KJV
"The spirit of man
is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly."
Picture
Proverbs 20:27 The Message (MSG)
"God is in charge of human life,
watching and examining us inside and out."
Picture
I like what the message says about Proverbs 20:27. Just like I was watching the candle on my porch, the Lord is watching and examining us inside and out. That makes me feel good. Why? Because I know God loves me and wants the best for me. I may not shine as brightly as others, but I don't compare. I may not shine with strength some days, but I do my best. Winds of adversity blow and it takes all I have to keep on burning, and God knows. He is examining me. Because He knows me, when I am weak--He is strong. I have no fear, and you don't have to be afraid either. God is no respecter of persons. What God does for one of His children, He will do for all of His children.
Picture
ACTION STEP: Shine. Shine as brightly as you can. When you think you can't do anymore ask God to intervene. Just say, "God help me, in Jesus Name. I need you right now." He answers those that call upon His name. He's got you!

Being a difference maker

Matt. 5:13,14 Message
“Let me tell you why you are here.
You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth.
If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness?
You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."

You and I are called to be a "Difference Maker." We can't make that difference being like everyone else and doing what every one else does. When salt goes into something it changes it! When the light come on, people see!
I want to challenge you this week to make a difference. Read the story below and see how just one man made a difference to an entire town.

A quiet forest dweller lived high above an Austrian village along the eastern slopes of the Alps. The old gentleman had been hired many years ago by a young town council to clear away the debris from the pools of water up in the mountain crevices that fed the lovely spring flowing through their town. With faithful, silent regularity, he patrolled the hills, removed the leaves and branches, and wiped away the silt that would otherwise choke and contaminate the fresh flow of water. By and by, the village became a popular attraction for vacationers. Swans floated along the crystal clear spring, mill wheels of various businesses located along the water, farmlands were naturally irrigated, and the view from restaurants was picturesque beyond description.
Years passed. One evening the town council met for its semiannual meeting. As they reviewed the budget, one man's eye caught the salary figure, being paid the obscure keeper of the spring. The keeper of the purse, "Who is the old man? Why do we keep him on year after year? No one ever sees him. For all we know the strange ranger of the hills is doing us no good. He isn't necessary any longer!" By a unanimous vote, they dispensed with the old man's services.
For several weeks nothing changed. By early autumn the trees began to shed their leaves. Small branches snapped off and fell into the pools, hindering the rushing flow of sparkling water. One afternoon someone noticed a slight yellowish-brown tint in the spring. A couple of days later the water was much darker. Within another week, a slimy film covered sections of the water along the banks and a foul odor was soon detected. The mill wheels moved slower, some finally ground to a halt. Swans left, as did the tourists. Clammy fingers of disease and sickness reached deeply into the village.
Quickly, the embarrassed council called a special meeting. Realizing their gross error in judgment, they hired back the old keeper of the spring. Within a few weeks the veritable river of life began to clear up. The wheels started to turn, and new life returned to the hamlet in the Alps once again.
This story is more than an idle tale. It carries with it a vivid relevant analogy directly related to the times in which we live. What the keeper of the springs meant to the Swiss village, Christians mean to the world. We Christians may seem feeble, needless, unimportant, and small to the vast world, but God help any society that attempts to exist without our influence.
We, Christ's ambassadors, are assigned the position of influencing and impacting our world not unlike the old gentleman in the Alps.

Our Father in Heaven sees what we do. No matter how insignificant we feel we are, we make a difference. We are called salt and light. Salt is a preservative, a seasoning and an antiseptic. Which means we are a preserver of the earth, we make life tasty and we can clean things up from disease, rotting and infections.

However, when we are in the dark like the rest of the world, we may feel like the Father has left us. He will never leave us. Feelings lie.

Picture a man in a dark room. He feels a warm, soft fur with one hand and a cold sharp edge with the other, and draws in close to the warmth and softness of the fur. But, when the light goes on, he sees that the warm, soft fur is the underbelly of a horrid, man-eating monster; and the hard, cold edge, is the sword of Christ ready to save. The reason he was controlled by his desire for the man-eating monster is that he was in the dark. When you walk in darkness, you are controlled by the desires for the soft, warm underbellies of prestige and power and lust.

Call out to your Father and let Him take your hand and run the race set before you.

ACTION STEP: Be what you are called to be! Be salt. Be light. When the enemy of our souls tries to blind us, and he will--persevere! Cry out to God. Refuse to waller in your self pity. Get up and forge ahead. Run the race set before you. Be a difference maker. Your Father has never and will never leave you. He is always here and HE believes in You! So, run your race!

Comparison "No", Compliment "Yes".

2 Corinthians 10:12
"For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves:
but they measuring themselves by themselves,
and comparing themselves among themselves,
are not wise."
Picture
When we are young, we compare ourselves with others frequently. Can I just say, "Some of us never outgrow this." Talking to people is part of my calling as well as my profession. I like to help people in all areas of their lives. One helpful tip is when you feel the urge to compare, compliment instead. You think someones car, house, hair, makeup, book bag, whatever is better, bigger, brighter than yours? Then, tell them how great you think it is. Don't stew over the fact you don't have what others have, instead sow a seed of gratefulness they do. We can never go wrong being a blessing to others.
Picture
There are times it is simply unfair to compare, as well as being just plain wrong. One area, I see this is in frequently is the area of spiritual maturity. Look we all grow at different rates. We enter into the Kingdom of God with different gene pools, just like in the natural. We have different parents, different appetites, gifts and callings. What one person may excel in, another person may struggle, but they will totally ace everyone in a different area.

If you are a woman and want to learn more about being the best version of who God called you to be see the information below in red and register today. It doesn't matter what church you attend or if your a college graduate or a dropout! There is always room for improvement and growth.
Register today and I will see you in less than a month. Can't make it for the entire conference you can call 304-292-7283 and ask for Breanna and register for the day time sessions on an individual basis. Come on and "Hustle with heart",  it will set you apart.
Picture
Comparing ourselves with others is like comparing apples and oranges. They aren't even close in their composition or purposes, so why should we compare them? Why don't we just enjoy them both?  God made them both. God made them different. It's easy to see what I am saying with the orange and the apple, but so difficult when we look at our brothers and sisters. Why? Because we think, we should be more like them, or they should be more like us. In actuality, we are telling God, "You messed up God. You made a mistake. You're not good enough. I could have done better." Oh, we don't say it like that, but we're saying it all the same. Instead, let's renew our mind with the scriptures I have listed below, and remember we aren't anyone else we are exactly who God made, and He made us on purpose...for a purpose.
Picture
James 3:16
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist,
there will be disorder and every vile practice.

 Proverbs 14:30
A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh,
but envy makes the bones rot.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may discern what is the will of God
,
what is good and acceptable and perfect.

 1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

We don’t live for people

 Philippians 2:3
Don’t act out of selfish ambition or be conceited.
Instead, humbly think of others as being better than yourselves.

Galatians 1:10
Am I saying this now to win the approval of people or God?
Am I trying to please people?
If I were still trying to please people,
I would not be Christ’s servant.

 Isaiah 2:22
Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath,
for of what account is he?

Give God your all

 Mark 12:30
Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind
and with all your strength.

 Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Be content

 1 Timothy 6:6-8
Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment,
for we brought nothing into the world
,
and we cannot take anything out of the world.
But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

 Psalm 23:1
A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

Be grateful in all situations

 1 Thessalonians 5:18
  Whatever happens, give thanks,
because it is God’s will in Christ Jesus that you do this.

Psalm 136:1-2
Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his mercy endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods because his mercy endures forever.

Compare yourself to Christ instead so you can be more like Him

2 Corinthians 10:17
As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.”

 1 Corinthians 11:1
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

That way you can live out God’s will for your life

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,
” declares the LORD, “
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalm 138:8
The LORD will work out his plans for my life–for your faithful love,
O LORD, endures forever
.
Don’t abandon me,
for you made me.

Advice

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves,
to see whether you are in the faith
.
Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves,
that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

 Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.

Reminder

 Psalm 139:14
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.

ACTION STEP: Read the above scriptures over to yourself. Then read them out loud. I challenge you to compliment the next person you are tempted to compare yourself. Tell that person what you love about them, their life, their looks, their stuff. Come on now! You got this! God's got you! It is really a great life we get to live!

Test come to everyone, but they won't stay forever. Smile and carry on.

We all know the story. We learned it as a little child if we grew up in church. It goes like this, Adam and Eve were in the garden where everything was perfect. Then, along comes a snake and tempts Eve. She ate the fruit and gave it to her husband and they both died. As I child, I thought it sure took them a long time to die. Hummm, I wondered how come they didn't die right away? When did snakes talk? I had lots of questions. I still do. One question that I still wrestle with is why does it seemingly good people, who do a lot for God, always seem to get no relief? Why is it that Satan just keeps coming at them from all angles--all the time?

Yes, I know what you're thinking. "Pastor Rena, you are a preacher. You know satan hates us. We look just like Jesus. Satan hates Jesus, so he hates us." Ok, so you're right. Yes, I know that, but satan even left Jesus for another time. Right? Yet, sometimes it seems like we get no relief. As a pastor I hate it when my congregation goes through tough times. I want them to have it easy.
Picture
We all get tested. If Jesus got tested, why wouldn't we? In stead of asking, "Why do bad things happen?" I ask, "What would Jesus do?" I cry out to Jesus to give me strength and get me through the test. I remind myself what the scripture says. I choose to do what I know to be right. You can too. And, the more you do this, the better you get at it. You will begin too wear satan out, rather than him wear you out.
Picture
Satan comes to see if we truly believe what we say we believe.
Picture
ACTION STEP:  I agree with whatever the Bible says. I agree with Jesus. I have Jesus on the inside of me and that power residing on the inside of causes me to be victorious in every battle. We win if we don't give up. So, today your battle plan is a witnessing tool for others. Say this when the battle rages, "Go ahead satan make my day! Because your days are numbered--I will live forever but one day you will be destroyed in the lake of fire. Then, smile and carry on.

Filibustering on God's instructions

8/21/2019

Let me begin to day by thanking you for stopping by. I want to touch on a subject that a friend once shared with me. I think about it a lot. My friend said that the Lord told him, "Never filibuster your agenda on to what I am saying." He explained to me that one day while speaking to the Lord he just heard the Lord say, "... that He never wanted anyone to add to what He was saying when He was done speaking." "He went on to say that many people do this and He never wanted my friend to do so." To the best of my knowledge he never has. When God is done speaking my friend literally shuts up.
Picture
One of the definitions I found in studying the word filibuster was to keep on talking to delay an action. I learned that this was often done in politics. I also found when looking for images for this blog, lots of pictures of pirates. I thought that was strange and perhaps one of you reading this can explain that to me. The best I could figure is a pirate takes what doesn't belong to him, and usually takes it in the wrong direction with captives. I'm guessing when we tag on our agenda to what God says, we do the same.
Picture
I found a lot more on filibustering than I thought was available. God really does have a vast vocabulary, and is an excellent communicator. He usually causes me to go study because I know so little about what He says. Perhaps, that is why we are to be in the Word of God daily renewing our minds? Just a thought.
Picture
What is a Filibuster? By Alexa Koschier
The filibuster is a tactic used in the U.S. Senate to block or delay action on a bill or other measure. A filibustering senator may endlessly debate an issue, introduce time-consuming procedural motions, or use any other means to obstruct or prevent action. Senators have done everything from reading Shakespeare to reciting the Constitution to hold the Senate floor.
The Senate can overcome a filibuster if it invokes cloture — a vote by 60 members of the Senate to place a 30-hour time limit on consideration of a bill or other matter.
Cloture, adopted as Rule 22 in 1917, used to require a two-thirds majority vote. However, due to the difficulty of obtaining a two-thirds vote, the Senate changed the rule in 1975 and reduced the number of votes required to three-fifths (or 60).
History of the filibusterThe filibuster was inadvertently created and wasn’t widely practiced until the end of the 19th century.
When the Senate and the House of Representatives convened in 1789, each had a rule known as the previous question motion where only a majority vote was needed to end a debate. The House kept that rule, but the Senate dropped it from its rulebook in 1806 and didn’t replace it with another, thus leaving open the potential for a filibuster.
While the first filibuster occurred in 1837, fewer than two dozen filibusters were enacted in the 19th century. During that time the Senate operated by majority rule, and senators expected that matters would be brought to a vote. By the Carter Administration, that figure was up to 20 filibusters per year.
Throughout Senate history, there have been notable (and long) filibusters including
  • 1935: Senator Huey Long of Louisiana spoke nonstop for 15 hours to prevent his political enemies in Louisiana from obtaining lucrative jobs with the National Recovery Administration. He held the floor by reading from plays of Shakespeare and reciting recipes for fried oysters.
  • 1939: Senator Jefferson Smith from “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” Although fictional, this famous filibuster given by James Stewart goes non-stop for about 24 hours.
  • 1957: Senator Strom Thurmond of South Carolina spoke for 24 hours and18 minutes against the Civil Rights Act of 1957. This gives Senator Thurmond the record for the longest uninterrupted filibuster in the history of the U.S. Senate.
  • 1986: Senator Alfonse D’Amato of New York held the Senate floor for 23 hours and 30 minutes to oppose a military spending bill. He did so by reading from the phone book.
  • 2013: Senator Paul Rand of Kentucky spoke nearly 13 hours questioning the potential use of drones on U.S. soil. Senator Rand’s intention was to delay the Senate confirmation of John O. Brennan as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
Filibustering in the modern-day SenateDepending on which side of the fight you’re on, some regard the filibuster as a tactic that protects the right to free speech and preserves the rights of the minority. Others criticize filibusters for wasting time needed for other matters and leaving bills grid-locked in a polarizing Senate.
Republican and Democratic senators alike have taken turns on whether they approve or disapprove of the filibuster (depending on which party is in power) and have threatened to impose what they have started to call the nuclear option — changing the Senate cloture rule to 51 votes, rather than 60.
In 2005 Republican Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist threatened to use the nuclear option to end Democratic-led filibusters of judicial nominees submitted by President George W. Bush. And in July 2013, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid threatened its use to stop Republicans from filibustering President Barack Obama’s executive-branch nominees.
Senators have never successfully made good on their threat to invoke the nuclear option and bring an end to the filibuster, but if they did, it could have huge consequences for the future of the Senate and the ability to keep the majority in check.
ACTION STEP: You may wonder why I brought this up? I was walking last night and I heard very clearly, "Pray for that man he is sick." I stopped turned around and went back and ask that man if I could pray for him. He was rude and started talking politics, and told me to pray for the leadership of my country, or some man I knew to be dead. The person I was walking with said, "Don't ever do that alone." I thought to myself, "No worries, I won't." I realized all God said was, "Pray for him he is sick." I could have done so while I continued to walk. God did not tell me to stop walking and go back, and ask the man if I could pray for him. I made that decision. It was the wrong decision. I learned a huge lesson. Just do what God says, don't add to it or take anything away from it.

Refusing to get angry and soar higher.

8/20/2019

"Remember this, my dear friends! Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Human anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose."
James 1:19-20)

"Don’t give in to worry or anger;
it only leads to trouble."
(Psalm 37:8)
Picture
I am not a Buddha advocate by any means but, this photo and quote say so much. Just think about what this picture portrays? We hurt ourselves when we are angry at others. Most people say, "They made me angry or it made me angry". In truth we choose to be angry. We choose to pick up that hot coal. We choose to take the bait that satan is setting in front of us. Satan knows if we pick it up we are hurting ourselves as well as others. Remember, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. That's all he ever wants to do to us. We must decide to be ruled by the Spirit of God within us rather than the circumstances that surround us.
Picture
We will all have opportunities to allow ourselves to become angry. The Bible tells us to be angry is okay, but not to let it pour over into sin.
"If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin,
and do not stay angry all day."

(Ephesians 4:26)
Picture
So, you see being angry and grabbing a hold of anger, and letting someone have it, are two very different things. Feelings of anger are normal. Anger controlling us has nothing to do with us, and everything to do with the devil having his way in us. Satan wants to control us. Jesus died to free us. We can choose to walk in freedom that can see the bait of satan, and not bite it. We can let it go. People will not always treat us the way we deserve or would like to be treated. That's life. But, abundant life walks higher.

When an eagle sees a storm he smiles and flies above the storm. It truly allows him the privilege of soaring without the work. The storm allows him to glide and use the winds to his advantage. Chickens and others lower creatures just cluck and pick and remain in the storm.

ACTION STEP: Don't letter anger go too far. Stop and recognize who is really setting up the situation and scenario? Refuse to take the bait. Soar above the circumstance. The only other birds an eagle meets where he flies, is other eagles. It matters who you hang out with. Choose your company carefully. Not everyone has access to leaders.

Oh, and PS...leaders are readers. Thanks for reading along with me on this journey called life. I choose to fly with you. Let's keep climbing!

One way to climb with me and soar above our circumstances is to hang out together and continue to learn together. You can do that by going to

People with a hot temper do foolish things; wiser people remain calm.
(Proverbs 14:17)

But I promise you that if you are angry with someone, you will have to stand trial. If you call someone a fool, you will be taken to court. And if you say that someone is worthless, you will be in danger of the fires of hell.
(Matthew 5:22)

Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort.
(Ephesians 4:31)

But keep away from foolish and ignorant arguments; you know that they end up in quarrels. As the Lord’s servant, you must not quarrel. You must be kind toward all, a good and patient teacher, who is gentle as you correct your opponents, for it may be that God will give them the opportunity to repent and come to know the truth.
(2 Timothy 2:23-25)

Passwords and Heaven

8/19/2019

The world in which we live has become so complicated. The reason for the complication being sin. Why do I say that? Because if everyone was honest we wouldn't need passwords. We wouldn't need to constantly change the passwords and add numbers, and characters, but not the same numbers, or characters. Really? Do that many people care about stealing my information? My money? My identity? I guess they do if it gets them what they want. It really boils down to that, getting what we want. Eve was willing to eat the formidable fruit and Adam went right along with her. Satisfy my five physical senses and you got me! Is it really that easy to take ownership of people? It is if they don't already belong to someone who will give them all they ever need or ask for.
Picture
However, if I know that someone loved me so much they gave their life for me, I probably wouldn't be so quick to sale out. This is why it is so important for you and I to share our testimony. People need to know about that kind of love. The kind of love that gives up everything, so you can have what you need and desire. Jesus did that. I believe that, so that settles so many issues for me. I can't be bought with a price because I already belong to someone. He purchased me with His precious blood. I am no longer my own. Christ lives in me. Because Christ lives in me I have the power to resist temptation that others fall prey, not because I am so strong or great, but because greater is He that is in me--than He that is in the world.
Picture
When you love someone, you want to please them. When you love someone your desire is to make them happy. You want to be around the person you love forever. Well, sin separates us from God, just like it separated Adam and Eve from God. This is why Jesus had to come. Jesus' death, burial and resurrection reunited us with the Father if we believe that He did and ask Him to be our lord and savior. We ask Him to be Lord, not just Savior because we want Him to be the boss, the master of our life. Jesus will make much better decisions for us than we could ever make on our own. So, it all comes back to knowing the Passwords. To get into heaven we need Romans 10:9-10. But, the Password to heaven never changes. The password to heaven is always Jesus. The Bible tells us He is the Way, the Truth and the Light and no one comes to the Father but through Him.
Picture
ACTION STEP: It all comes down to what you want? What do you want bad enough to give up everything? Many will choose fame, fortune, and fun. Many will choose to gratify the flesh. Few will choose to deny their flesh and have faith in God.The choice is ours. Each of us have a free will and because wide is the way to destruction, and narrow is the way to the Father, many will choose to go the wrong way. So, while we are on this earth, we need to keep changing those passwords. We need to pray for God's protection from those that are wicked and selfish. But, more importantly we need to pray for all people, everywhere, that they would choose to confess Jesus as Lord. There will be no passwords in heaven. All the choices we make to decide our destination are made right here, on earth. Have you made your decision?

The earth displays His glory. We are all carriers of something!

Today, I will finish out my vacay adventures with two of my many highlights. I got to see two launches and an incredible rainbow. Two totally different launches. One was a cargo launch and the other was a satellite launch that will transmit information to Africa. We put on our NASA shirts and hats and red chucks and out the door we went to see what had been scheduled.
Picture
It is a rarity that there would be two launches this close together. One was delayed but, went up later in the week; which we still got to see, and the other was right on time. It matters what you are carrying. What you carry changes what you leave behind. Moses was carrying the afterglow of being in God's presence and it caused his face to glow. As I watched each rocket go up, I noticed how different they looked. I paid attention to the aftermath, one left almost nothing. The other left a vapor that lasted a long time. Both man made. Both carrying something of value.
Picture
The above is the Satellite Rocket. Notice the ice shield as it travels through our atmosphere, and where it left our atmosphere. This one left the greatest aftermath. You knew something was there, long after it had taken off. It was carrying something to transmit information. The other one was just carrying stuff-cargo.
Picture
This one above is the one carrying cargo. It was louder after the initial take-off, but little to nothing remained to let you know anything happened. Stuff really doesn't matter as much as information, what you know and who you share it with.
Picture
Then there is this one. However, this one is my favorite. I'd never seen a full arc of a rainbow. It was breath taking. God made this one. This one is a sign of his promise to us. (Genesis 9:16)  When this one was gone, it was gone. No sign was left. It was the sign. I thought if you miss something man made you may be able to see the aftermath. But, if we miss God's timing we miss it all. In the picture below you can see it was doubled on both ends. I not only got to see the full rainbow, but I got to see a double full rainbow. It was amazing. It showed up and then it was gone. I didn't get up early to see it. It wasn't advertised. We didn't all put on a certain shirt, hat, or shoes to look cool to get up early and walk to see it--nope, it just showed up. God is like that. God wants us in the right place at the right time. He promises us so many things, but we just don't obey... we don't do what we need to do--to see what God wants us to see.
Picture
What we carry matters. What we leave behind matters. But what is of far greater importance is Who we know, and what we know about what He said. Do you know Jesus? Do you know what He promised. Are you sure you will be where you need to be? We are to be carriers of His presence here on earth. When we show up is there evidence that we have been there? Does our presence cause others to stop and ponder their relationship with Jesus? Are we spending more time trying to see what man made rather than spending time seeing and learning about what God made?

ACTION STEP: Take a minute today and read your Bible. Get to know God better. Find out His perfect will for your life. Where does God want you, right now? Does he want you to go to a road called Straight? Does He want you to come up the mountain? Come out of the cave? Who does He want you to meet? A man named Saul?

God has plans for us. God wants us to carry something. The choice is ours. Will it be Cargo, Information, or a Promise?

Have a great weekend.

I will share with you something new on Monday.
