Forgiving hearts and fresh starts-New Beginnings.

I've been studying the subject of New Beginnings for a series we just finished for the month of September at our local church. Of course, much like you, I know there are several scriptures in the Word of God about new beginnings. The revelation of that newness has really began to get down on the inside of me. God's mercies are new every morning. He doesn't have an, "I'm mad at you still today", attitude. Look at these scriptures:

 “And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ Also he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’”— Revelation 21:5

GOD GIVES HIS PEOPLE NEW SONGS OF PRAISE.

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” — Psalm 40:3

HE IS THE AUTHOR OF A RENEWED SPIRIT.

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” — Ezekiel 11:19

HE MAKES NEW WAYS OUT OF THE WILDERNESS.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”— Isaiah 43:19

LIVING IN THE NEW IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND PRIVILEGE.

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” — Ephesians 4:22-24

HE’S STILL CREATING THINGS UNSEEN.

“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” — Isaiah 65:17

AND IN CHRIST, HE’S GIVEN US A FRESH START.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE NEW YEAR FOR A FRESH START BECAUSE HIS MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY MORNING.

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. — Lamentations 3:22-23

I read a lot and unfortunately don't always recall where I read something. I save bits and pieces here and there for later use. I am getting better and noting where I got things and giving credit to whom credit is due. It's the right thing to do. But, sometimes I have been known also to give credit to the wrong person because they have said it, and not noted where they got it. We are all human and what we put in does come up. The more we put in, the more we put out. I pray you are putting lot's of God's word, and wisdom from others in. We all need to share with one another what we have. We belong to the same Kingdom and once born-again, we belong to the same family. 

What happens to us individually changes our family dynamics. Read this story from the Bible about Joseph and his brothers.

Joseph was a teenage boy full of vim and vigor, and, quite honestly, it appears he was a bit of a show-off. His older brothers resented Joseph for being their dad’s favorite. But this didn’t stop Joseph from telling them he would someday rule over them and showing off his fancy coat.

In Genesis we see that Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery—an act that resulted in Joseph essentially being the ruler of all of Egypt. After being a shepherd then a slave, becoming a ruler was definitely a new beginning for Joseph. It was a new beginning in which he honored God in all he did for the remainder of his life.

Joseph’s brothers also got a new beginning when they were forced to go to Egypt to buy food. Little did they know they were putting themselves at the mercy of Joseph—the brother they’d sold and lied to their father about. When the truth came out, Joseph’s love for his family and his forgiving heart allowed his brothers to have a fresh start at being a family.

God was honored in both situations because their new beginnings were accepted and lived out with gratitude and humility.

ACTION STEP: If you'd never been hurt, never been abandoned, never been lied to, never been ______________? How would you love? How would you forgive others? Today, love that way. Today, forgive that way. Forgiving others in heart, gives them a new start. Be like Jesus. His mercies are new every morning.

Built to overcome and BTL

We were built to overcome all obstacles and adversaries. We were built to carry the presence and power of God. We had to be perverted by the enemy of our souls to lose. I recently went to the movies with my husband to see the last "Rambo". The innocence of a young girl just wanting to know her father brought her death. The search for anyone or anything other than our Heavenly Father can take us to places of no return. Once something is altered or perverted it is impossible to remedy--but for God. God sent Jesus to overcome death, hell and the grave. Jesus did it! Jesus led the way. Jesus is the way maker. Jesus overcame the devil with the Word of God. Repeatedly we hear Jesus say, "It is written..."  How many "It is written's..." do you know?  If the enemy of your soul comes after your mind, do you have an "It is written?" What about if he comes after your body with sickness? Do you have an "It is written", for that.  I could go on and on, but you get my point. You don't overcome by what I say, but by what you say.

Then there is our testimony. I always heard if you haven't been through a test, you don't have a testimony. We were built for test. Jesus never said, "If test and trails come." The Word of God says, "When test and trials come...". If you live long enough you will have tests and trials. Yes, I put an "s" on those two words because it's not a once and done. I wish it were, but it is not. Pick up any book that is a real life story and you will run into them running into tests and trials. Sometimes, they win and sometimes they loose. It will be the same with us, but we get stronger in the struggle. We don't wrestle with flesh and blood, but neither does the devil. When he messes with us and we have made God our Father and Jesus our Savior, and we have the Holy Spirit, then the devil messes with four against one. Not good odds. He doesn't stand a chance.

So, what is your testimony? What test have you gone through or are coming through that you were built to overcome? The automobile Ford uses the motto, Ford Tough-Built to Last." In fact BTL is abbreviation that the business world automatically recognizes. Folks like me recognize ATM and can't tell you what it stands for? FYI- it means automatic teller machine. 

People have written best sellers on BTL. People that own Cold-Stone Creamery bought them, read them and are living the dream. See below:

Take it from the masses over time, the best selling BTL book is the Bible. Read it! Let it be your manual that is BTL.

ACTION STEP: Go ahead read the greatest BTL best seller there ever was and ever will be. Put into action what The Book tells you to do. Believe what the BTL Book tells you about who you are. Lots of great books have been written by guys (and gals) without a PhD. So go ahead give it a try. And if you're looking for something else? Here is another one I haven't read...but I just might...just because I want to see how it compares to my Daddy's book.

How to overcome

We all know the story of Joseph. If you need a refresher read Genesis 37:3, and it will trigger your memory, or fill you in. For today, allow me to highlight for you that Joseph was loved by his father. He was loved more than all of his other brothers, and this made the his brothers jealous. He had many dreams, and when he shared them with his brothers, it made them hate him all the more. They conspired to sale him into slavery. 

His circumstances had changed, but the favor on his life had not. Here is where I want your attention. You are God's favorite. Don't worry about everyone else. God is God. Don't ask me how, but He can have many favorites. Our surroundings, the people, the places, the job, the bosses, everything we know may change, but the favor on our life will not. We are more than over-comers.

There is another story in the Bible about a son who finds himself in a pigpen. The story can be found in Luke 15:16. We can find ourselves in different surroundings, with different people, in different places, working different jobs or no job, with a new boss or no boss, everything we know my change, but we still have a father that loves us. When our appetites and instinct are no longer aligning with the reality that we are chosen, loved, freed, children of the King, we are where we don't belong. We are either physically or mentally in a pig pen. We are wallowing in sin.

Some things we go through, because of our own choices. Other things we experience, or go through, are due to other peoples choices. Wherever, you find yourself, in whatever, state you might find yourself, get up and brush yourself off. Forgive those that have wronged you, and if need be forgive yourself, for your bad decisions. Your Father still loves you and wants you to come home. Your brothers, though they may never admit it until forced, are still responsible for how they treated you. God has a way of dealing with everyone individually, so leave that up to Him. Get yourself right. God will take care of everything else.
Psalm 103:3
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heal all your diseases.

ACTION STEP: Remind yourself of who you are, and whose you are. Get into the Word of God, and let that Word, get inside you. He is waiting for you to either come home, or reveal your true identity to your brothers. Joseph's brothers had a change of heart only when they realized who their brother was, and then confronted what they had done to him. Your unveiling of who you are, changes who others are and how they see themselves. So, go ahead turn around and go back to the Father's House or set a table and invite those brothers and see what God can do.

We overcome by repenting and being who God has called us to be. Forgive and forge ahead. You are still God's favorite.

You're an Overcomer

One of my favorite Christian songs to listen to when facing the trials and tribulations of life is "Overcomer" by Mandisa. In the chorus it says, “You're an overcomer. Stay in the fight 'til the final round. You're not going under 'cause God is holding you right now."  Right now, God is holding you. Whatever, you are going through, don't give up. Find out what God says about your situation and decree and declare that! to your situation.

When we are born again we become Overcomer's. We don't overcome because we are so great, but because God is so great. God is good. God sent His Son Jesus to win the victory. Christ death and resurrection overcame the world. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become a part of the Team of Overcomer's. We can speak to the mountains in our life, and they will be cast into the sea.

ACTION STEP: Stand in the position that Christ died to put you in. Stand in your position and speak the Word of God to your mountain. Whatever, is standing in your way, can be removed. Mountain moving faith is in your realm of authority. Use your authority in Jesus name. Listen to this song everyday if you need to. Read the first 3 chapters of Ephesians everyday, for as long as you need to. The Word will not return void, it will do what it is sent out to do. You are an Overcomer!

I believe in you and God believes in you. If you don't belong to a local church, find one! Everyone needs a spiritual family to belong, grown and give their gift to. We need others and others need us! We are overcomer's  together in Christ Jesus.

Do the right thing.

Yesterday, i mentioned the movie Overcomer. There were several hard calls that many of the characters in the movie had to make. It made me think about doing the right thing. Sometimes, it's clear. This is right and this is wrong. At other times it is so hard to know what to do. This usually occurs when it involves other peoples lives. When in doubt go to prayer. Ask others for wise council. Find out what the Bible says, and never ignore your gut.

Apart from Christ we can’t do the right thing. We all fall short of God’s Glory. God is a holy God and demands perfection. Jesus who is God in the flesh lived the perfect life we couldn’t live and died for our iniquities. All men must repent and believe on Jesus Christ. He has made us right before God. Jesus is a believers only claim, not good deeds. 

True faith in Christ will cause us to become a new creation. God will give us a new heart for Him. We will have new desires and affections for Christ.

ACTION STEP: Doing the right thing is many times the hard thing. Do the right thing anyway. We know whether something is right or wrong in our spirit. Sometimes, when it involves another person's life it may be more difficult, but never-the-less right is right and wrong is wrong.

What do you allow to define you?

A friend of mine gave me a book called, "Defined", Who God says you are. The authors are Stephen and Alex Kendrick with Lawrence Kimbrough. I cried though the entire movie. I promise I won't ruin it for you, but you have got to go see this one. Generations are being born not knowing who they are, and just as bad; not knowing who their Father is. Their biological parents drop like flies due to the rising opioid crisis, just to name one killer of our young. Left in the wake of this, are children being raised by grandparents. However, it is not just their job, it's ours too. We must live our faith out loud to a deaf generation that needs to hear their heavenly Father's voice for the first time, so they can run their own race.

I for one have a love for running. I have learned through this sport we all have to run our own race. I can't try to beat anyone but me. I can't run for anyone. I must run for me. I can't do right, be right, talk right--for anyone else but me. And "Me" has to do it for something bigger than just my want too's. I need God my Father to talk in my ear and tell me, "I can do this". To tell me, "I'm good enough." To tell me, "I matter." I need to hear all these things out loud. 

I didn't have parents that supported all I did. They didn't come watch my games, or parades, or see me cheer. I am sure they loved me and believed in me, but kids need to see it and hear it.

We didn't have cross country running as a sport, or any running sports for that matter. But me, I loved to run and I was good at it. When I was in my thirties, with no coach I could still do a 4:56 mile. One day, someone came to watch me run. They cheered for me as I turned toward the finish line. That was a turning point in my life. Someone cared. Someone was in the stands for me. Someone told me I could do it. Someone believed in me. So, I heard what they said. They got my attention. They ask me hard questions. They made me think about who God says I am, and suggested I read my Bible. I have never stopped reading.
ACTION STEP: Read Ephesians, just the first two chapters and write down everything God says you are. Once you have that down, go cheer someone else on. Knowing your Father makes all the difference in life. It did mine.

Let God fight for you. Stay in peace and give no place for strife because it brings every evil thing. The bible tells us, "No weapons formed against us shall prosper." With God there are no losers except our adversary the devil. We've got this. Tell yourself and tell your neighbor, "We've got this.". God and you is a majority. God and I are a majority. Let God fight for you by attaching yourself to Him, and then holding on through obedience to His word.
ACTION STEP: I will do my best to stay on here this week. I will be traveling once again, but you are important to me. I value our time together. I am on here live every morning during my devotional time. As I read the Word many of you come to mind, and I pray for you, and for you to finish your race. If I miss a day, I will still be praying. Internet is sometimes sketchy, so pray I have a good wireless connection. However, we know God is our ultimate WiFi, and we will still be connected in the Spirit. God bless you and have a great weekend. Get in Church. Find a place to belong. Find a family of God where you are embraced as a child of God, so you can grow stronger and wiser. Remember, you were born for this day!

Choices and Raising kings~means raising yourself first.

Just because people hear does mean they heard it or they will do it.

If you are striving to get better, then you are always growing. And if you are always growing, then you are not comfortable.
 
To be the best, you have to be willing to be uncomfortable, and embrace it as a part of your growth process.
 
The best can see where there is room for improvement and their humility and passion drives them to improve.
 
The average ones however, don't see it or don't want to see it. 

​Even more disheartening for me is to study and share the Word of God, know people hear the Word, but do nothing with it. It is takes longer than they think it should, so they give up and return to their old ways. They refuse to act on the Word and wait for the promises of God.

It is in the application of the word that we are successful and become who God intended us to be. Hearing alone is not enough. I encourage you to go back and read the notes you took. Meditate and study what you wrote. Memorize the scripture and what God spoke to you, then and only then will you be able to apply it and application will change your life.

ACTION STEPS: I have given you plenty to do already. Read and then re-read this Blog today and don't just hear it, but do something with what you have heard. If you attended the "Raising Kings Intensive" ask yourself, "What have I done to change the reflection of the women in the mirror? Is she better because of her encounter with the Lion on the mountain?" Patience is what you do while you wait.

Preparing for what's to come~Seasons and destinations change.

Returning from the "Raising Kings" 2019 Intensive that I do yearly, I had all plans to rest and relax. Nah, I redid my porch for Fall. After being in the mountains of Pennsylvania I wanted to settle into Fall. I have a busy October. Knowing what awaits me, helped to motivate me to get a jump on preparing for Thanksgiving. When we know what is ahead of us it changes our today. I know Heaven is ahead of me. I may not know the time or day, but I know the season is drawling closer, if not for everyone at least for me, though eternity does await us all. We can prepare for where we spend eternity today. If you haven't thought about that, perhaps today is the day. Allow me to encourage you to read the Bible, and do a search for all the scriptures that contain Heaven, eternity, forever, and kingdom just to get you started.

This is the wreath on my front door. I care about what people see when they enter my home. When people first glance at you, for you are the Temple of the Lord, what do they see? Are you inviting, clean, well manicured? Or a mess? The way we take care of ourselves, our homes, our cars, says a lot about who we are as a person and what kind of a steward we are, of what God has given us.

Here is a picture of my porch. I had some fall pillows and they added just the pop of color I needed for early fall. It's amazing to me, how just a little color changes everything. As the leaves begin to change, it activated gratefulness in me for variety. Life would be so boring without the variety of food, styles, colors, and personalities that the Lord has given us. I have friends that are "serious work horses". I have other friends that are total "show ponies", and still others that are "wild race horses", they are truly, tamed and harnessed power. I love them all. They all add color to my life. Some make me think, others make me smile, and still others push me to improve myself. I want all of God's people to feel welcome in my presence. As people approach my life, whether in my home, church, community or missions, I want to be approachable. I believe inside each of us are gifts from God, placed there for one another. If we aren't approachable, the gifts inside of us don't have a chance of being experienced by the giver, or the receiver.

Finally, here is a little table on my porch with an oil lamp. When I light it at night the oil keeps the bugs away, but it is also inviting. People like to visit and just stop by and sit on our porch. Even though it is dark all around there is a light that draws them to come and sit awhile. Ask yourself, is my life a light that invites the right company and expels the wrong visitors? Am I shining the light of Christ to others, drawling them to Him? Our lives speak with every action, word and deed. Give your life the right picture of the One you serve and have given your everything.

ACTION STEP: Look around you today. Is your home inviting? Your Car? Your personal body? The things that God has made you a steward over, how do they look? What can you do today to make you, your life and your surroundings more of a reflection of Christ? Answer those questions and do the study above on Heaven, Eternity and the Kingdom. Write me and share how God spoke to you and what you did to change your here and now, to prepare for your hereafter.

Markers and milestones of life

This quote and photo is from one of the attendees to this years "Raising Kings" Intensive. In order to have a memorable or milestone moment, you've got to plan for them. Sometimes you have to pay for them. Regardless, of what you have to do to invest in your life--do it! So, you can invest in the life of others.

There are so many testimonies and praise reports coming in from the attendees I am having troubles keeping up with all of them. These ladies were fierce as lions to confront the woman in the mirror. They realized that woman in the mirror is their competition. The woman in the mirror is the one that gives them the most trouble and kickback. We must conquer the woman within, if we are to master the woman on the outside. Those we hang out with sometimes silence the roar inside of us and blur the image of our true self. Go back to your Creator and let Him define the purpose for which you were born, wrapped in flesh and sent to this earth. Then learn to be the best version of you! Meet Him at the foot of the cross...night comes and we know not when.
Luke 11 (The Message) 
 "41 Didn’t the One who made the outside also make the inside? Turn both your pockets and your hearts inside out and give generously to the poor; then your lives will be clean, not just your dishes and your hands.

ACTION STEP: Take time to be with yourself--just you and your creator. Find a mentor as well as a pastor. We all need a shepherd, a coach, a mentor, a Father and a friend. Not one person can meet all our needs. We all need Jesus as our Savior, but we need Jesus with skin on sharing our life on a daily basis. Left to ourselves as Henry Cloud writes in his book, "The Power of the Other" we can flounder and fail. The power of another person in our life can help us find strength in us we didn't know we had left inside of us.
