Proverbs 27:14
“He who blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, It will be counted a curse to him.”
Picture
My family is probably much like yours. The scenario went like this. My husband was to meet a friend for breakfast at 8 AM. I woke up about 6:30, but tired from a heavy schedule. So, I stayed in bed. When I heard him leave I snuggled under the covers and tried to go back to sleep for another hour. Alarm set I began to doze off. Then, I heard this banging on the door. Did he forget something? Why didn't he use his garage door opener or the keypad?

I hurried and got my robe and ran down the stairs well, more like hobbled. When I got to the door it was my daughter, and my three grandchildren, donuts in hand. I looked at her and said, "She who wakes her mother with a loud bang in the morning it shall be accounted to her as a curse." She touted back, "Please forgive your servants offense...I brought donuts and your grandchildren..." (Perozich Version of Abigail and King David)

Well, at least she knows the word of God. As a mother I at least get a star for that. Looking into the big smiles of my bright eyed grandsons filled with anticipation of seeing me melted my heart. I opened the door and she opened the box of donuts.

ACTION STEP: When others demand more of you than you think you have, pause take a breath and eat a donut not your children. Yes, you can quote me on that one. It was refreshing and enjoyable as I downed a fresh raspberry filled, chocolate donut and snuggled with my reward for having children.

REMINDER-Grandparents Day is this coming Sunday! Maybe buy them a box of donuts but, maybe wait till at least 9 AM before visiting.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Phillips)
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the faith and correcting error, for re-setting the direction of a man's life and training him in good living. 17 The scriptures are the comprehensive equipment of the man of God and fit him fully for all branches of his work."

When Rick Renner was growing up, his father loved to go fishing. As the years passed and his love for fishing grew more intense, he purchased himself a boat so he could go to the lake and fish at any location he wished. He remembers his first boat well. It was just a plain, simple, ordinary boat with nothing but a very small motor and two wooden oars for rowing just in case the motor stopped working.

Like most serious fishermen, his dad wasn’t content with that beginner’s boat very long! He had to have something better, nicer, and more seriously equipped. Soon he swapped his simple boat for a rig that was completely decked out with every imaginable device. It had a huge motor, a trolling motor, a depth-finder, a computerized temperature gauge, and a sophisticated fish locator. Even the anchor was operated by a special electric motor. He finally had the boat of his dreams, loaded with everything he ever could have imagined having on his fishing boat. What an improvement this was from that first very simple, basic boat he had started out with when he first took up fishing as a sport!

Well, believe it or not, when the apostle Paul describes what the Word of God does in our lives in Second Timothy 3:16 and 17, he uses a Greek word that describes a well-decked boat like Rick Renner’s Dad’s boat. These verses say, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished (comprehensive equipment) unto all good works.”

I want you to notice the phrase “thoroughly furnished” in verse 17. This phrase contains a “gem” that reveals what God’s Word can do if you give it top priority in your life. You’re about to discover that there is no replacement for what God’s Word can do in you and for you!

The phrase “thoroughly furnished” is from the Greek word exartidzo, which means to completely deck out or to fully supply. It was used to depict a ship that had previously been ill-equipped for traveling; but because its owner had decked it out with new equipment and gear, this ship had become thoroughly furnished to sail anywhere in the world. This boat was fully supplied, completely equipped, or thoroughly furnished.

Paul uses this word to tell us that we are not prepared to set sail in life until the Word of God has done its work in our hearts and souls.

When we first come to Jesus, we are like the first boat — just beginners who hardly know enough to get by in life. Yes, we’re saved and on the way to Heaven, but we haven’t had enough of the Word placed into us to fully equip us for sailing through all kinds of weather.

You can be sure that you will encounter all kinds of weather in your journey through life — including strong storms. Therefore, if you’re going to make it all the way to your destination, you will need all the equipment and gear you can get!

Paul’s words in Second Timothy 3:17 could be interpreted to mean:
“That the man of God may be perfect — completely outfitted and fully supplied, decked out, throughly furnished, and comprehensively equipped unto all good works.”

You see, when a believer never reads the Word of God, never meditates on the truths of the Word, and doesn’t regularly renew his mind with the Word of God, he is like a simple boat that isn’t equipped for long-distance sailing. He might be able to make it across a little lake; however, in order to victoriously make it across the sea of life and through all the storms he will encounter along the way, he will need major equipment!

That equipment is imparted to a believer when the Word becomes an integral part of his life. God’s Word working inside his heart and mind actually outfits him, decks him out, equips him, or furnishes him with all the spiritual gear he needs to take the adventurous trip God has planned for his life. With God’s Word fitted tightly in place, that believer is ready to set sail and follow wherever the Holy Spirit leads!
Picture
If we choose to not make God’s Word a priority in our lives, we are still headed to Heaven, but we’re like that first simple, plain, basic boat. In other words, we’re just believers who have only enough spiritual equipment to make it across the little lakes of life. On the other hand, if we choose to take God’s Word deeply into our minds and hearts and then apply it to our lives, that Word will release its supernatural power to transform us from simple, basic believers to super-believers — endowed with everything needed to successfully make the long-distance journey the Holy Spirit has planned for our lives!
Picture
ACTION STEP:  It's your choice to get decked out with the Word of God.So, how far do you want to go in life?

Your answer will determine how deeply you need to take God’s Word into your heart and mind. If you’re just in this for a little jaunt across a lake, you will be satisfied with a low level of God’s Word in your life. But if you’re planning to take a long, adventurous, exciting faith journey, you better dive into the Word of God. As you do, that anointed Word will deck you out with all the provisions you need to make it all the way to your destination! You will get Re-Set for this journey called life.

The scriptures are the comprehensive equipment of the man of God and fit him fully for all branches of his work." Or as the Passion Translation say, "perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you."

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NLT)
"Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better return for their labor. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble."

Picture
We have discussed Reuben and Simeon. Today, we look at the tribe of Gad. This represents the warrior in us that refuses to give up. This is your will to fight. When this part dies or becomes discouraged a person accepts everything and anything and lives a very defeated life. When you feel there is not strength left in you and when we are weak we are strong. When we are poor we are rich. It is the grace of God on our lives that allows us to be more than conquerors. Examples are Paul and Silas, Stephen being stoned, Elijah running from Jezebel, Blinded Samson regaining his strength.

The Tribe of Gad asked permission of Moses to settle in the "land of Gilead," "on the East side of Jordan" Numbers 32:1-5.

But God’s Promised Land of Canaan was to the west across the Jordon.
At first the Tribe of Gad said, "We do not want to cross the Jordon and fight for the Promised Land of Canaan."

The Tribe of Gad had cleared the land…, they had built houses and farms…And they were actually pretty well established without crossing into the Jordan River and attacking and fighting for the Lord and the Promised Land of Milk and Honey for Israel…

It is kind of like if two people are putting up hay…, and one says to the other…If you will help me put up my hay I’ll help you put up your hay…So the two men agree…And they work together and put up the first man’s hay…But then…,Well, something comes up…After receiving all the help…You start making excuses..., to escape from helping finish the whole job.

And at first that was what The Tribe of Gad wanted to do…All of Israel had helped build their sheepfolds…They had their land cleared…They had their wells dug…They had their town fortified…

But then Moses made them a deal…If the men of Gad would fight the battle across the Jordan river…The Tribe of Gad could have all the land of Gilead as their property…So the Tribes of Gad led the Israel army into battle and crossed the Jordon river fully armed and fought for the Lord… and fought for Israel into the Promised Land of Canaan.

Moses assigned the land of East of the Jordan to the Tribes of Gad, and also to The Tribe of Reuben and later we will also meet the Tribe of Manasseh.

So, the Tribe of Gad stayed behind, and dwelt mostly on the East Side of the Jordan River by their self.

The problem was they were often victim of raids by the people from Moab, and the Amorites.

Jacob prophesied on his death bed…Genesis 49:19 (NLT)
"Gad will be plundered by marauding bands, but he will turn and plunder them."

The Tribe of Gad did not enter into the promised Land of Canaan.

"Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better return for their labor. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NLT)

God designed us not be isolated… but to work together.

There is a big advantage to working together…, building trust…, cooperating with others. Enjoy the video below. Click here if it does not show up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0nibQ6Kj8U&t=459s

The spirits that attack our today, to steal our tomorrows.

Genesis 49:4
“Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel, for you went up onto your father’s bed, onto my couch and defiled it.”

Picture
I talked about the Reuben spirit before on this Blog, but last night I began a series on the 12 Tribes of Israel. What is it we can learn about them to arm us and prepare us for our Promised Land? How can we have a prophetic word or destiny that is so positive and a life that turns out so negative? This series looks at each brother in depth. Reuben turbulent as water. He is the first born and should have received a double inheritance, but looses it because he does NOT honor his father. He goes as far as sleeping with one of his fathers wives, when his father takes his most loved wife Rachel's body to Bethlehem to bury her. Really, you're not even in mourning for your father's wife? The Reuben spirit only cares about himself. This spirit is selfish and has no boundaries, no principles. The Tribe of Reuben was plagued with dreams that never got carried out. They could have been great, but settled for good.

The Simeon spirit
represents the flesh in us. Not flesh as in the sense of the tissue of your physical body, but the rotten sinful nature in us that enjoys sin. Whenever given the chance it thrives to do evil with its mind driving it forward, with the desperate desire to be heard. It leads us down paths of unrighteousness and becomes silent, when the consequences appear.

Simeon tried to take revenge into his own hands…Our flesh loves revenge. It loves a platform. This is why Paul encourages us to mutilate and crucify the flesh daily. Put the Simeon in you in check before it mutilates you, like it did the entire family that's son raped Dinah. Silence Simeon with the Judah (Praise) in you. The flesh cannot be allowed to make decisions. It is not trustworthy. Put the flesh in the dungeon for it cannot thrive there, only the dreamer (Joseph) can.

ACTION STEP: Here is the link for the program last night where I taught on Reuben and Simeon, in case it does not show up below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmNxiSQa5ZA&feature=share.   This show has not been edited. The message starts at 51 minutes into the service. I will post the upcoming messages as I continue to share on the 12 Tribes of Israel.

Study ahead. Read about the 12 Tribes of Israel in Genesis 29-49. Watch the service below. Then, pray and ask God to help you deal with the things you see within you that want to steal your dream, your land, take your authority, and ultimately keep you small and insignificant, and finally keep you good and never allow you to become great. Don't allow the spirits of the day to steal your tomorrows.
 Romans 12:19 (KJV)
"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

Romans 12:20 (KJV)
"Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head."

Romans 12:21 (KJV)
"Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

God fulfills His purpose for you.

Psalm 57:2
“I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.”
Picture
It's God who fulfills His purpose for me. I cry out to God. God hears my cry. If you are lost today I hear so clearly that if you will cry out to God, He will hear you and answer you. You can count on His word being true to you.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. This is another very well-known verse as it tells you that no matter what happens, believers can expect that everything will work out for the good.

These seven strategies can help you reveal or find your purpose so you can begin living a more meaningful life.
  1. Donate Time, Money, or Talent.
  2. Listen to Feedback.
  3. Surround Yourself With Positive People.
  4. Start Conversations With New People.
  5. Explore Your Interests.
  6. Consider Injustices That Bother You.
  7. Discover what you love to do.
If the video does not show up below please view in your Browser or click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWFzbQGsswg
ACTION STEP: Take time to listen to this video and answer the 7 strategies above. Yes, get engaged with your money, time and talent. Listen to feedback from people who believe in you and love you, and yes, your critics. Surround yourself with positive people and start conversations with new people. Actually, sit down and think about what truly interest you, not what makes money or what will make someone happy. What makes you cry? What makes you mad? What would you do if money were not an object, that you truly love to do?

You don’t necessarily have to engage in your purpose full-time. You might find your career gives you the ability to afford to help a cause you feel passionate about. Or, you might find that you are able to donate time—as opposed to money—to give to a cause that you believe in.

"Who are you?"

Yesterday, I shared with you the book and the movie, "The Insanity of God." I have always marveled at what people are capable of through and in Christ. I guess this is true because in and of myself I truly am helpless to do anything of any great value. However, through the power of Jesus Christ I become invincible. The sick become well, the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk, the hurting become the joyful and on it goes--when I stay connected to the vine. The branch benefits from what is in the vine. Why then, do so many disconnect? Because, of the Reuben spirit. This spirit settles for good, when they could be great. This spirit settles for comfortable, rather than commendable. This spirit is attacking the Body of Christ--maybe even you?
Picture
When the Body of Christ fails to be the Body of Christ then everyone suffers. Those that need go without, and those that have, fail to be fulfilled. Lulled by food, fun and fanaticism. Philosopher George Santayana defines fanaticism as, "redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim."

What are you here for? What is your purpose? Our original purpose and aim is to worship God. We are here to bring our creator glory. Our life is to be a living sacrifice, not a sacrifice to have a life of fun, food, toys, the best house, body, car, etc. No! We have to remember our aim, and then work towards that end; daily dying to what we think, what others think and what we want! We have become selfish not self-less.

So, what do we do? Go back to our why. Why are you here? Why were you born in this time and place? What is you purpose? The only place you can find your purpose is the same place Jesus found His...in the Bible.

ACTION STEP: I challenge you today September 1, 2020 to start working toward your purpose. Open your Bible. If you don't have one, download a Bible app on your phone. Everyone has a phone. Start reading anywhere you like. Trouble deciding start with the Book of John. I just began SCRIBE Bible Journal by Lyfebooks. I will Blog about this once I have worked through it for awhile. Below are some great quotes from leaders of the past. As you listen to these take some notes and meditate on what you heard. Meditating will keep it with you long after your time of listening is over.
