Fear Not Series #1~We are NOT afraid.

The panic is tangible. But so, too, can be the love of the church, said Chua.
“These are gospel moments. We can spread love, not fear, nor the virus. Let’s not waste this epidemic.”
Picture
In fact, it's been said that there are 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible — one “Fear not” for every day of the year! Lloyd Ogilvie in Facing the Future without Fear even said there are 366 “Fear nots” in the Bible, one for every day of the year, including Leap Year!
Picture
Stores emptied of sanitizer, canned food, toilet paper, and water. Fights over the sale of limited supplies of face masks. Anger as congregations continue to gather for worship, prompting accusations of a lack of “social responsibility.”

The COVID-19 virus has spread from Asia to Europe and North America rapidly over the past week, bringing with it a level of panic and angst—everywhere from the supermarket to the stock market to the local church—not seen in recent times. The global tally is now more than 125,000 infected and more than 4,600 dead.

Churches in Singapore, which Billy Graham affirmed as the “Antioch of Asia,” have already weathered the anxiety now sweeping the world. On February 7, the nation-state’s government raised its national risk assessment level from Yellow to Orange, indicating “moderate disruption” to daily life—and in particular to large gatherings of people.

March 7 marked the one-month anniversary of Singapore—which has seen 166 cases but zero deaths—going Orange. This means that for the past month, local churches—which account for about 1 in 5 Singaporeans—have been forced into an extended period of self-examination, reflection, and action.

The process has not been straightforward, with a senior pastor afflicted with the coronavirus (and subsequently discharged), entire denominations suspending services, church-based preschools closing, and very public online disputes—in a nation that strictly enforces religious harmony—on how the situation is being handled by church leaders.

To help churches in the United States, Italy, Brazil, and other countries now facing decisions that churches in China, Korea, and Singapore have been grappling with for weeks, here are seven lessons the Singaporean church has learned over the past month:

1) Your church’s worship will change. Hold tight to what is sacred—and hold everything else loosely. Congregations are creatures of habit. Churches are built on traditions, liturgies, and order in worship. Over time, every church’s line between what is fundamental to the faith and what is merely institutionalized response gets blurred.

Does Communion have to be actual wine and unleavened bread to still count as holy? If you don’t actually lay hands on someone, are prayers of healing still effective? Does a church have to gather in the flesh to count as a congregation?

Every church, and every member of your church, will have different views on such often-undiscussed questions. The COVID-19 outbreak presents a needed moment of doctrinal stocktaking.

Every church board and pastoral staff team in Singapore has come together many times over the past month to grapple with what is non-negotiable in God’s eyes.

“The biggest lesson for me has been navigating the road between fear and wisdom,” said pastor Andre Tan of The City Church. “It is especially tough as fear often has a way to masquerade itself as wisdom. How many precautionary measures are actually sound judgment and how many are too much, such that they teeter over into irrational fear and anxiety?

“It is a tough road to navigate, as we had to both convey safety to our members—by way of implementing recommended health measures—and yet not succumb to the cultural climate of fear, anxiety, and self-preservation,” Tan told CT. “We do so in all our notices by ensuring that we are not just communicating measures but also casting a vision for how to be the people of God in this time.”

In practical terms, a church’s response will vary depending on its doctrine, local context, and exposure to suspected cases of COVID-19. There is no correct answer; all are seeking the most appropriate response in extraordinary times. Precautions that Singaporean churches have taken to maintain services include:

  • Taking temperatures at worship services and smaller-scale gatherings.
  • Mandating travel declarations and recording contact details of attendees to facilitate tracing of contacts if needed.
  • Suspending gatherings of more vulnerable groups, such as the elderly or children.
  • Suspending Communion, or moving to alternatives such as pre-packaged bread and wine.
  • Moving away from hymnals to limit physical points of communal contact and using projection screens instead.
Some have chosen to suspend their services entirely. The Roman Catholic archdiocese, which accounts for about 7 percent of Singapore’s 5.8 million people, took the unprecedented step of suspending Mass in its 32 parishes starting February 15, advising congregants to continue to fulfill their spiritual obligations by tuning in to online sermons, spending time in prayer, and reading the Word at home.
Picture
ACTION STEP: If you are afraid or you need prayer leave your request here. I will pray. I have a staff that will pray. But, whatever you do? FEAR NOT! Tomorrow, I will share another thought from the Singaporean church. Fear Not. Why? Fear is not of God!

A Crowing Rooster

3/16/2020

God will use any means He choses to reach mankind; even a crowing rooster.

I have been traveling a lot. I have been to several countries. In each country I have been to I have heard the rooster crow. I heard him crow in Ghana. I heard him crow in Kenya. I heard him crow in Armenia. I heard him crow in Israel. I heard him crow in Palau. I believe the Lord is calling His church to wake up!
Picture
God has been using animals since creation. Many times my own child has been that crowing rooster. Sometimes, I have heard the rooster crow from my preacher.

He used a dove to conduct a flood check.

He used a raven to feed the prophet.

He used clean and unclean animals to teach about election.

They came to Noah instinctively as chosen by God.

He used a donkey to give a word of warning.

He used a great fish to swallow a Jonah.

He turned a fish into a submarine.

God gave the hyena his laugh.

He gave the elephant his memory.

He gave the Kangaroo his hops.

He gave the light bug his light.

He gave the butterfly his beauty.

It was God that gave the duck his quack. He gave the dog his bark. It was God who put a back-pack on a turtle. He used a donkey to carry the Word. He is an awesome God. It was God that gave the worm his wiggle. It was God that gave the Lion his roar. Yes, it was God that put a necklace on a rooster and gave him his crow.
Picture
Let us consider the rooster that crowed the preacher to consciousness of his sin:

I. The Rooster crows to wake us out of our slumber. (When we become sleepy in the things of God.....the rooster crows)

II. The Rooster crows to fulfill God's purpose. He doesn't bark...he crows) He does what God designed him to do.

III. The Rooster crows to remind us that God is still sovereign. (He did what Jesus said he would do and when he said he would do it.)

IV. The Rooster crows to keep us humble. (Peter was humbled by the rooster crow and wept bitterly as he failed Jesus)

V. The Rooster crows to remind us of our sin. (He crowed when Peter lied)

VI. The Rooster crows to kindle the word of God within us. (He crowing reminded him of what Jesus had declared.

VII. The Rooster crows to make the disobedient restless. (Peter could not wait to live up to the promises that he made to Jesus.)

VIII. The Rooster crows to tell us that light or mourning has come. (He lets us know that darkness has ended and a new day has dawned. A new opportunity to become better when God's Son shines in our lives.)

ACTION STEP:
A man that does not hear his rooster is in dangerous state. I believe the Rooster is crowing now to tell us that Jesus' coming is drawing nigh. Let's not allow our guns...nor our guts (bravery) to be taken away from us.

Haggai 2:20
And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
Haggai 2:21
Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
Haggai 2:22
And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
Haggai 2:23
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
Picture
God is shaking heaven and earth. We can sense that the shaking is coming and coming fast! God will bring down nations, kings and presidents and destroy the power of Satan and his heathen followers. No power on earth can stop God from doing what he wills.

But God is going to make his people, those who obey him, and his chosen nation, a sign that we are His chosen in the earth. The Lord of Hosts will fight that battle and He will bring a spiritual awakening if we will only heed the messages.

A signet ring is used by its owner to sign and seal official documents. It is a mark of honor and authority.

As we step up and the stir up the gift of the Holy Ghost within, the glory and the presence of God will come in, and we will preach and pray, march on and defeat the devil with the authority and power of the Blood Jesus and the power of his name!

We are here to represent God’s presence and power to a lost and dying world, and to a church that is becoming more apostate every day.
Picture
God isn’t waiting for the world to clean up its act. He isn’t waiting for a new strategy or a new leader. He’s waiting for those of us in the church to courageously confess our sins and stand on the gospel once again.
ACTION STEP:  The glory and power of God is our answer and His name is our authority to overcome the enemy and gain victory and win the lost to Jesus! Let us heed the messages of Haggai and stay working in serving the Lord with all that is within us.
Don’t get satisfied where you are, but ever draw closer to the Lord. Don’t get discouraged but just trust God and have faith! The Holy Ghost is pouring out around the world!
Let’s get under that spout where the glory pours out!
Let’s be full of the Holy Ghost and Fire through a deeper and more dedicated walk with the Lord!
Let’s be a part of the mighty Army of the Lord that pulls down strongholds of the devil and drives back the powers of hell in this hour!
We are called to step out in faith for this time in which we are living!
God is with us! Wake up!
Drink!

God will Bless if we meet his conditions

Haggai 2:10-12
In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,
If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.
That which is holy is not transferable.

Each of us must have it for ourselves.
One church, or one Christian that is on Fire for God won’t make the whole church fired up!

We all need our own portion of that fire of the Holy Ghost burning within!

Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.
Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

You can’t give God your second best and expect him to bless it. God wants all of you, all of the time! Anything less is not enough!

Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
Picture
What are we doing when we try to offer that which is unclean and not holy before the Lord?

When every work of our hands is tainted by the sin of selfishness, pride, arrogance and irreverence, how can God accept it?

God refuses to bless disobedience.
Picture
ACTION STEP: God plants the seed of revival in us, but if we allow it to remain inside and we don’t press in to bring forth fruit, that seed will die! Press on, pray and work, let that seed multiply and God will bless! GROW UP-An Acorn is good for nothing unless it is planted, watered and allowed to go through a period of darkness and obscurity. We have got to become what God called the seed in us to become!

Prepare to receive the Lord Your God.

Today is the day to prepare!
Haggai 2:2

Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

Haggai 2:3
Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
Picture
None of those in that day had seen the glory of the first Temple of Solomon. 70 years had passed and the former generation was nearly all gone. But God wanted to remind them of the glory of his presence in that temple and what it meant to Israel to have God in their midst!

I believe God want you and I to know what they knew. I believe God is healing and doing great miracles in our midst. He is here. We need to be strong in the Lord.

Haggai 2:4
Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

Haggai 2:5
According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

Here’s the Word of the Lord! Be Strong! Get to Work! God is with us! He is the Lord who fights our battles and the victory is won! Don’t be afraid to step out in faith believing God for great things! God is with us and we cannot fail!

Haggai 2:6
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

Haggai 2:7
And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

Can we deny that there’s a shaking going on? Can’t we see that the shaking in only beginning and that there’s an ever greater shaking coming? Everything that can be shaken, will be shaken, so that only that which is of God, founded upon his word, will stand!

Haggai 2:8
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

Haggai 2:9
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

But God will shake everything that can be shaken until everything that hinders us will be removed and all that’s left is for us to desire Him and His glory in our midst. God wants to fill his house, his church and his people with his glory!

He desires that the church in these last days will be a greater church than in the old days, with a greater anointing, a stronger faith, a greater trust in Him and that we can rest in his peace and still be filled with his presence to finish the work set before us.

What is the true glory of the temple? Is it the gold, silver, brass, and all of the rich materials that were lost in Solomon’s temple? No – it was very presence of the Son of God that was to be the true glory! Nothing of this world can compare to him!
Picture
ACTION STEP: Start today to seek the Lord with all your heart. Focus on His presence. Practice His presence. Do whatever you have to do to stay in His presence. He desires to be with you throughout your day.

Build God's House

Haggai 1:5-7
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Picture
Your life might be comfortable right now. And yes you are tired and worn down! But arise in the strength of the Lord and get to work because the House of the Lord still lies unfinished. What’s more important, that you are comfortable, or that you have the temple finished so that the presence of the Lord may dwell in you? God wants us to consider our ways. So many don't know Him yet and we need to consider if what we are doing is necessary and needful? There is a harvest but laborers are few.
Picture
We can’t afford to get lazy! We can’t allow ourselves to become distracted and cease the work of prayer, of praise, of fasting and of reaching out to a lost world for Jesus!
Until we act in obedience to the Holy Ghost, there can be no spiritual awakening! The Fear of the Lord must return to the midst of the church.
Picture
ACTION STEP: Take some time to search your heart and answer a few questions:Haggai 1:8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
Here’s what the Lord would - “You are satisfied with your own house but what about the house of God?
• You work and labor, but what does it all really accomplish if you don’t have that revival of God’s presence in your heart?
• You plan, you build, you sell, you buy, and you enjoy your freedom in life, but what about the condition of your heart before God?
• Is God pleased with the labor of your hands, or is he calling you to draw closer to him?
• Are you satisfied, or more importantly, is God satisfied with us right where we are?
• Is God not calling us deeper still into his Love?
• Is he not calling, beckoning us to step out deeper into the water and walk by faith to do a mighty work for him?
• Do we not sense the Holy Ghost wanting to move in us to allow the Gifts of the Spirit and the Fruits of the Spirit to be manifest in the church through us?
• Does not God desire to bring miracles, signs and wonders into the church so that we can become a great spiritual powerhouse to preach the gospel and bring souls to the Cross of Christ?

I encourage you to build God's house.

Awake to Committment

1 Samuel 11:11-14
"11The next day Saul separated his men into three divisions; during the last watch of the night they broke into the camp of the Ammonites and slaughtered them until the heat of the day. Those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
12The people then said to Samuel, “Who was it that asked, ‘Shall Saul reign over us?’ Turn these men over to us so that we may put them to death.”
13But Saul said, “No one will be put to death today, for this day the Lord has rescued Israel.”
14Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us go to Gilgal and there renew the kingship.” 15So all the people went to Gilgal and made Saul king in the presence of the Lord. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings before the Lord, and Saul and all the Israelites held a great celebration."
Picture
We have been looking at the story of Saul to remind us of the importance to wake up to become who we are called to be. This wake up call includes awakening to make a commitment to action (11:11). When we are awake we have options, choices, feelings, temptations which are simply choices. The devil wants us to make choices that will hurt others. God wants us to bring healing to others.

In order to understand this portion of scripture if you are just joining me at RPMDaily.net check out the previous two blogs, and read 1 Samuel10:20-22 through 1 Samuel 11:11-14.
Saul’s personality was energized when the Spirit of God gripped him. He changed from the cowardly king hiding in the baggage to a courageous warrior with a purpose.

When Saul woke up to what God had called him to be and to do, then he had a battle plan. A battle plan God had given him. God does not give us a plan until after we become committed to the call, and to stay in unity. Good wants to know we are all in. God wants us hot or cold and will spit us out if we remain lukewarm.

In this portion of scripture, we see Saul and he's army put their life and death plan into action, with determination. They knew who their enemies were and they knew how far to go, and when to stop. They had the strength to forgive and move on (1 Samuel 11:12-13).
Picture
We are not waiting for God. God is waiting for us to make a commitment to Him (1 Samuel 11:14-15).  He has plans, His plans for us today. Now is the time fo us to give thanks and praise.
Picture
ACTION STEP: This is the day the Lord has made. God ahead and wake up and step into it! Jump in with both feet and find the king inside of you. Quit hiding our where you don't belong and start leading those that have been waiting on you to take the lead! God will give you the plan. God will be with you, He will not leave you alone.

Awake to Unity

1 Samuel 11:7 NKJV
"
So he took a yoke of oxen and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the territory of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, “Whoever does not go out with Saul and Samuel to battle, so it shall be done to his oxen.”
And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent."
Picture
It's time for the church, you and I to "Awake to Unity" and come under our God ordained leadership. We must come to the realization that God is active and watching (11:7b). It is the "fear of the Lord" that drives us to act for His best for all of His creation. When this happens God’s influence will fall as it fell on the group here in 1 Samuel, after its leader was stirred to action.

Again we see, that after the leader took action the people came out, “Come out” as one to action (11:7b). There was no time for a meeting. There was no need for discussion; the choice was made. Too many of us get caught up in email, snail mail, text, telephone calls, paperwork and just plain business with no productivity.
Picture
ACTION STEP: Read your Bible as a modern day "How to Manuel", because it is. If you are up against a problem find that problem in the Bible and see how the Lord would have you to take action. God's plans never fail, but we fail to implement His plans and instead do what we think is best. We don't know what is best unless we know what God would have us to do. You will never know that God is a never failing God unless you allow Him to be Lord of your battle. Then you will see He is your VICTORY!

Awake to Decisive Living

1 Samuel 11:5-7 (NKJV)
5 Now there was Saul, coming behind the herd from the field; and Saul said, “What troubles the people, that they weep?” And they told him the words of the men of Jabesh. 6 Then the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard this news, and his anger was greatly aroused. 7 So he took a yoke of oxen and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the territory of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, “Whoever does not go out with Saul and Samuel to battle, so it shall be done to his oxen.”
And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
Picture
It's interesting to me that until a person (a leader) wakes up and decides to do something, followers don't do anything either. If we find ourselves just going along with the crowd or worst yet hiding and living our life comfortably without care of our fellow man, we need to wake up. Usually, a wake up call happens when we least expect it and least desire it.

However, we need to understand our need to personally act (1 Samuel 11:5-6). Notice Saul was behind the herd and came forward and started asking questions. Some will feel as though they are being challenged when you ask questions. Ask questions anyway. Get in front of the herd. When he heard (we need to listen more than we talk) the Spirit of the Lord came upon him to do something about what he heard. Their words lit a passion in him. He found work to do. That word "work" is the Greek word "Ergon" and it is measured by the amount of heat it produces. I ask people who don't know what they want to do with their life, "What makes you mad?" This is usually a key to a problem you are meant to solve. This was Saul's second wake-up call. We have many in life. The more Christ like we become, the more wake-up calls we receive. Think about the disciples that Jesus ask to pray with Him in the Garden the night before He was crucified. He came and found them sleeping. He didn't tell them to wake up and give them another assignment. No, He told them to sleep on. When we sleep we miss opportunities. We fail to see and act.

Now, look at 1 Samuel 11:6-7. Saul was able to make a quick solution. He didn't just get angry and stay angry; he put His anger to work. He took what he had and used it to do what needed done. He let others know how important action was. Ask yourself, "What can I do to change the situation?" The world is waiting for us as children of God to wake up and do something. Waiting for us to make a difficult choice, with a lasting impact.
Picture
We all need to wakeup to the God kind of greatness on the inside of us. We all need a God kind of wakeup call. We all need to open our eyes and open our ears and get out from behind the herd where all we can do is walk in dung, and arise to a higher call. Then, take what we have and send a message to the world. God will back us.
ACTION STEP: Get out from behind and take your God given place. Open your ears to the cry of the nation around you. Let the Lord give you a divine strategy to rally the troops and turn a negative situation into a positive one. God knows how to bring unity where there is disunity but He wants our help. Put on the new nature of Christ. Find your passion. Find your "Ergon" that one thing God ergonomically made you for, that by the way you were made to do it with less efforts than others with more passion as well. Why? Because, that's the work of the Father that you were sent to do. (See John 9:4)

Awake to Passionate Living

3/4/2020

When we are asleep we are like a bird in a cage, we do not loose our ability to fly, but our flight is restricted.
Picture
Work-to become what you are. What is trapped inside of you? Ergon is the Greek word for work. We need to find out who we are to become? What work were we created to do? An Acorn seed is to become an Oak Tree. It could try to become many things, but the only thing trapped inside of it, is an Oak Tree. That is what must come out of it. Jesus said, I work the work my Father sent me to do. Jesus did what was inside of Him. He did the work He was created to do.

I find it interesting that Ergon is measured by the equivalent heat it produces. To me that means passion. How much passion comes out of you when you do something?

Myles Monroe said, "The world tell us to get a job. The world never tells to do what brings us fulfillment." We were born to be deployed not employed. Jesus said, "Go." Jesus said, "My Father sent me..."  Deployers employee others. They determine their own wealth. People that are employed complain because their gift is not activated. When we work the works for which we were created, we can’t wait to get there. If we are worn out and wearied we are not  working in our gifting. Micheal Jackson said, "Singing is me. I get paid to be myself."

A job is your skill set. You're dispensable. Work is your gift. You are indispensable. Gifts go with us. It is our seed. Our future is in our seed, our gifting.
Picture
Remember, we are in 1 Samuel chapters 10 and 11 all week.

It is the Spirit’s control in our life that drives us to passionate living (10:21-22; 11:1-6a). If you want passion in your life get into the Word of God and let His Word get in you.

A Spirit-controlled person is a passionate person.

Passion transforms us from worrier to warrior. Passion opens the cage and allows us to fly.

When we are living in our passion we are driven to action by the needs of the day (11:1-4, 6b). We wake up with a God agenda not a selfish agenda.

We read that they needed to save their countrymen. That woke them up.
Once awake they needed to do more than talk about their problems, or others would find their lives scarred forever. Passion provoked them to action. God gave them a plan. He will give you one too.

As you read these scriptures, as we read yesterday, Saul was hiding out with the supplies. He was not created for that. He was in the bird cage. However, when he found his passion--he found his purpose. The cage doors swung open. Your's will too.
Picture
ACTION STEP: When we discover who God created us to be we find the true meaning for our life. We wake up excited to see what the day will bring. Sure, we will still have challenges, enemies, and yet there will be a knowing that God is with us and God is for us. Whatever it is we were created to become and do, we have a God that is on our side, helping us along the way.

I am praying as we go through this study you will find your reason for living, your reason for which you were born; that you too can work the work for which your Father sent you.
