Day three of New Beginnings-Holy Habits and Godly Grooves

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

As the New Year begins many are gun-ho about starting something new, however many fail and finishing what they started. I know. Why did I have to say that? Because it is true. That is why I have taken today to encourage you to remain consistent. All things are hard to begin. Most things are hard to stick with. Few things are ever finished. Often times we just get busy. Busyness however is not always productive. We can be busy and never finish what God created us to do. We can just stay busy. Then we use busyness as an excuse. "Well, I was busy." We live in a culture that thrives on busyness. Today however, I want you to look at what consistently doing one thing can achieve. For example, water consistently dripping on a rock can hollow out a hole in the rock. No one would ever think water could put a hole in a rock but over time with consistency it can be done.

So, today we look at what we consistently do. If we consistently learn something new we become more educated. If we consistently read the Word of God we will become wiser. This is where choices come in. Do you want to become more educated or wise? We are what we do repeatedly. We get good at what we do the most. If that is to apply what we learn everyday is no doubt a challenge. If that is to simply learn something but not apply it then we probably are not very challenged. We may even become bored.

The point I am wanting to make is our spiritual life is a reflection of the choices we make on a consistent basis. Those choices are often made without any real thought or prayer. I want to challenge you to make conscious choices about how you spend your time. Make a conscious choice about what you eat, how you treat your body, what you do with your time? This seemingly mundane choices produce our quality of life for which we will one day give an answer.

So the question is not how consistent you are, but how consistent you are at doing the right things. Consistency then is the KEY. Keys open doors, safes, cars, houses....I think you see where I am going.

2018 is a year of opportunity.

We make our choices and then our choices make us, right? We've all heard it. Hearing is not the same as doing. It takes more effort to do something about what we hear. If we truly believe that the choices we make determine what we become, then I believe we would all make wiser choices. One of these choices is to set a goal. Set no more than three goals. Work only on number one until it's completed. If we try to work on three things at once we will not be successful at reaching any of them. If this New Year is to produce a New You, then you must set a goal and stay focused. To see what's never been done before, we must do what we've never done before. Continuing to do the same thing we have been doing will only produce more of what we already have. Some consider this to be the definition of insanity-to do the same thing over again, and expect a different result.

Hebrews 6:9 (KJV) "But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak."
I believe in you. I believe that greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. I believe that if you truly set your mind to do something, you will be successful. Today is Day 2 of the rest of your life. Make it count. Get into the Word of God, and let the Word of God get into you. All new beginnings are tough. The old way of living shouts for us to return. We say often without words, "The old way was better", but we in fact are not convinced. There is an untapped reservoir within you. A fountain that will never run dry courses through your veins. It is the life of God. Allow the DNA of God to manifest itself in you. It is part of your inheritance as a child of God. You were made for this. New year-New you!

For those of you desiring to join me in my Daily Devotions adventure, I am reading "Sparkling Gems Vol. 1 by Rick Renner" this year, as well as "The MacArthur Daily Bible", and have begin a Facebook Group called "Holy Habits and Godly Grooves". Day one of New Beginnings-Holy Habits and Godly Grooves

January is named after the Greek God Janis. If you remember your Greek Mythology you will perhaps recall the two-faced statue. One of Janis's faces looked forward, the other looked back. He was the God of beginnings. It amazes me how indoctrinated we are with pagan beliefs. It occurred to me that we here in the Western World, more than likely are so messed up in our thinking, because of things such as these. There is paganism intertwined in practically all of our words, beliefs, music, structures, etc. I wonder if there is any truth besides the Bible anywhere? That being said, I want to challenge all of you, my dear readers, to read through the Bible in a year with me. For those of you really wanting more of a challenge, I will be reading, "Sparkling Gems I by Rick Renner". I am considering starting a Facebook Group Page for all of you that are interested. Let me know if you'd like to join this for accountability and posting?

This being said, you will begin to develop some "Holy Habits".  Join me in getting more entrenched into a "Godly Groove". He came to bring us "Joy", let's band together to bring Him "glory". When we fill ourselves with the Word of God, His power breaks us so that He can be seen.

I pray that you are a willing vessel, fit for the Masters use. Allow this to be a year of being used. Let me remind you when you allow God to use you, there may be times when you will feel used. Don't worry. God always has a way of making more out of nothing.

"Holy Habits" are developed day by day. It is in the struggles that we find our strength.  Getting into a "Godly Groove" will keep us from sliding into areas that God has not prepared nor destined for us. So, together with the help of the Holy Spirit let's band together and make 2018 our best year yet!

Happy New Year!
